Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Mātanga Tapuhi | Nurse Practitioner to join the Mauri Ora – Student Health and Counselling team on a permanent basis. This is a clinical role, working with our awesome team of General Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Support staff to contribute to the delivery of effective quality primary care to Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington Students in a challenging and yet very rewarding environment. You will also work closely with Student Counselling, Health Improvement Practitioners, the Health Coach and other Student Support teams.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
Ideally you will have the following:
- A current Annual Practising Certificate within the scope of Nurse Practitioner.
- Broad experience in a primary health care setting.
- Experience in triaging and assessment of acute needs.
- Experience in sexual health and contraception would be an advantage.
- Empathy and interest in working with a diverse student population.
- Experience and interest in working in Māori and Pasifika health an advantage.
- A genuine interest in younger people's health care needs.
- Familiarity and competence using Primary Care Medical Records Software (Indici).
- Evidence of satisfactory current medical indemnity (NZNO or equivalent cover).
- A current CPR certificate.

We provide wide-ranging MDT primary health care to the University student community of 22,000. We are part of the Tū Ora Compass Primary Healthcare Network and around 9,000 of our students are enrolled patients. We also work with a diverse group of 2,500 international students. Never a dull moment in this vibrant community.
This role requires safety checking through the police vetting system under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
