Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
As a Literacy Researcher/Educator, you will be working with Professor Gail Gillon and Professor Brigid McNeill and the CWRI Literacy Research team. You will be involved in the ongoing development of teacher PLD and research projects related to supporting struggling readers and children with dyslexia.
Mōu | Who You Are
The preferred candidate will possess at least a Master's degree (NZQA level 9) or a PhD (preferred). Additionally, you will have the following characteristics:
- Knowledge and expertise of effective interventions for older children with reading challenges or dyslexia
- Experience working with schools and teachers to facilitate change in literacy teaching practice.
- In-depth knowledge of the scientific evidence of effective reading instruction for older learners
- Previous experience in a mentoring or coaching role preferred
- Research experience in evaluating effective interventions preferred
- Able to work independently, with a high level of initiative.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Excellent communication skills- including strong writing abilities.
