The School of Sport and Recreation is seeking an experienced Lecturer/Academic in Sport Leadership and Management.  This is a full-time permanent appointment and will require teaching, research, and supervision to take place across AUT North Campus, AUT South Campus, AUT City Campus, and AUT Millennium.

The successful candidate will have the expertise to enhance our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and provide quality teaching, supervision, research, and industry engagement in the programmes offered by the School.

We are committed to the integration of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and enhancing cultural competencies in the delivery of our curricula and within research activity. A high level of cultural sensitivity, along with knowledge of, or a commitment to learn and apply, kawa and Tikanga Māori and mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) across teaching and research is therefore important.

The successful applicant will actively engage in facilitating a student-centred approach to the delivery of education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels including the supervision of higher-degree students.  In addition, they will be expected to:

  • Be committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Be able to deliver high-quality education that meets the needs of students, industry, and professional groups, through leadership and innovative teaching and research in the field of Sport Leadership and Management (SLAM). While we have a multi-disciplined team in SLAM, we currently have gaps in sports marketing.
  • Inspire and support student achievement
  • Develop a strong programme of applied research
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum development
  • Communicate effectively, and demonstrate a commitment to collaboration and working in a team
  • Have competent organisational IT skills

Applicants should hold a relevant doctoral qualification, be active in research, have experience in high-quality teaching at the university level, have strong industry connections, and be eligible to work in New Zealand.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $159,000 (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
