The School of Sport and Recreation is seeking an experienced Lecturer in Sport Leadership and Management.  This is a 0.2 proportion fixed-term appointment for 2 years and will require teaching and supervision to take place across AUT North Campus, AUT South Campus, and AUT Millennium.

The successful candidate will have the expertise to enhance our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and provide quality teaching, supervision, research, and industry engagement in the programmes offered by the School.

We are committed to the integration of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and enhancing cultural competencies into the delivery of our curricula, so a high level of cultural sensitivity, along with knowledge of, or a commitment to learn and apply, kawa and Tikanga Māori and mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) across teaching and research is important.

The successful applicant will actively engage in facilitating a student-centered approach to the delivery of education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels including the supervision of higher-degree students.  In addition, they will be expected to:

  • Be committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Be able to deliver high-quality education that meets the needs of students, industry, and professional groups, through leadership and innovative teaching and research in the field of Sports Leadership and Management
  • Inspire and support student achievement
  • Develop a strong programme of research
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum development
  • Communicate effectively, and demonstrate a commitment to collaboration and working in a team
  • Have competent organisational IT skills

Applicants should hold a relevant doctoral qualification, or be working towards the completion of their PhD, be active in research, have experience in high-quality teaching at the university level, have strong industry connections, and be eligible to work in New Zealand.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $101,000 pro-rata (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
