Te āheinga: The opportunity

The Sport, Recreation, and Exercise team at Unitec has an exciting new role for someone who is passionate about exercise, from both a performance perspective and a community wellbeing perspective. The ideal candidate will have a background and experience in exercise prescription, with a passion for connecting with the community. The role involves teaching on our Level 4 Certificate in Exercise and on our Level 5 Diploma in Sport, Recreation, and Exercise. This is an amazing opportunity to start or continue your career in higher education with a team who have been delivering successful programmes in the field for over 25 years.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You'll come with the ability to teach in the field of sport, exercise, and recreation; specifically in applied exercise science plus you'll have:

  • A relevant bachelor's degree in Sport, Recreation and Exercise and preferably a postgraduate qualification or a Masters in the field of Sport, Recreation, and Exercise.
  • The knowledge and experience in exercise science, with a focus on exercise prescription and exercise physiology
  • The ability to demonstrate confidence in teaching theory and practice in a vocational education setting
  • Stakeholder and industry experience in the field
  • An understanding or desire to learn Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
