Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Lecturer to join the Media and Communication Programme. Victoria University of Wellington launched two new Communication degrees in 2020: the Bachelor of Communication (BC) and the Master of Communication (MC). We are now looking to appoint a suitably qualified Lecturer to contribute to the Media & Communication Programme as we move into offering new second and third year, as well as postgraduate, courses in 2022. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of these new and fast-growing degree programmes in Wellington, Aotearoa/New Zealand.

The role would include designing and delivering courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in addition to contributing to the research profile of the Media & Communication Programme at Victoria University of Wellington. An ability to develop and oversee project-based assessment would be desirable.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

The successful candidate will have a PhD in communication studies or related field and demonstrate a commitment to/existing track record of a research programme in the communication field. The appointee will be able to effectively engage and mentor students from different backgrounds and supervise student research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The appointee will also demonstrate the ability to work collegially in a team, contribute effectively to the administration of the programme and evidence awareness of our obligations to the Treaty of Waitangi in an academic context.
