Position Overview
Come and join Jacob Oram and Massey University’s Sport Advancement team for a fixed term opportunity to actively develop, promote and coordinate the Massey University Academy of Sport (MUAS) programme on our Albany (Auckland) campus.
Sport Advancement
As the influence of sport and importance and recreation continues to grow at Massey University, this High-Performance Coordinator role provides valuable support for student-athletes as they juggle tertiary study with their own sporting development. As well as their national and international pursuits.
Community Engagement
You will be expected to continue developing and maintaining contacts within the catchment region for National Sporting Organisations (NSO’s), Regional Sporting Organisations (RSO’s), Sport New Zealand (SNZ), High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ), University Sport New Zealand (USNZ), Regional Sports Trusts, schools and clubs.
What would make YOU successful in this role:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in one of the areas of recreation/sports management, recreation/leisure studies, sports science, or physical education.
- Demonstratable experience working within a university and/or students association environment to assist student-athletes juggling their academic and sporting commitments.
- Experience with athletes and/or the support needs of athletes would be an advantage.
- Experience in organising events and activities.
- A high level of communication competency, especially utilising online meeting platforms (given that a lot of student-athletes study via distance).
