Te āheinga: The opportunity

We're seeking candidates who are interested in picking up a few extra hours working as an Exam Invigilator. This is a casual role, and you would therefore join Unitec's pool of casual staff for exam invigilation.  

Exam invigilators are responsible for overseeing our students while they take their exams, to ensure the security and integrity of the examination environment. There are also some basic administration tasks involved too.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You'll have:

  • An understanding or desire to learn te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Māori
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
  • You are someone that can work autonomously and equally value being a part of a supportive and close-knit team plus you are able to:
    • Oversee the conduct of examination on the day.
    • Report on the conduct and outcome of each examination, including incident reports.
    • Support exam processes including checking student identification and additional tasks as required.
    • Be reliable, always arriving on time and staying until the examination papers are returned to the supervisor
    • Count accurately and quickly 
    • Stay calm if any issues arise
    • Communicate instructions to all learners clearly and calmly
    • Physically fit and able to move around our campus, sometimes walk up and down stairs and lift a small box of exam papers

Joining Unitec, you will be working within a diverse organisation that encourages forward-thinking and recognises success.   You will be attending an exam invigilator workshop before exam season starts. You'll be working at either of our campuses, Waitakere (Henderson) or Mt Albert, within a supportive team.
