Dairy Farm Assistant - LUDF
Mō te tūka | The role
Work as a Dairy Farm Assistant at our Lincoln based dairy farm. Work with state-of-the-art machinery and gain valuable skills working with experienced farm managers who are industry professionals and passionate about staff development.
The 160 ha fully irrigated farm runs a stocking rate of approximately 3.5 cows/ha (560 cows peak milked) and has a 50-bail rotary dairy with ALPRO milk monitoring, cup removers and Pro Track. We are a demonstration farm focused on best practice for the New Zealand dairy industry.
Day to day tasks will vary but likely will be a mixture of:
- Milking
- Checking cows for mastitis and other issues
- Shed hygiene
- Shifting irrigation sprinklers
- Effluent management
- Feeding out
- Weed management
This is a permanent role working an average of 45 hours per week. This role pays a base salary of $54,000 - $62,000 per annum + a weekly accommodation allowance.

To be successful in this role you will be:
- Experienced as a farm assistant on a dairy farm, with milking and cow management (2+ years preferred)
- Keen to learn - attitude is the number one priority for us
- Great at following procedures
- Are physically fit - this is an active role
- Have flexibility - love those early morning starts and can work outdoors in all weather
