About the opportunity

Manaaki Whenua is the Crown Research Institute that specialises in research on New Zealand's land environment and biodiversity. We are at the forefront of scientific research and innovation, powered by data and digital technology. Our mission is to create, manage, and utilise extensive datasets to drive impactful outcomes for New Zealand. As a Corporate Data and Information Support Specialist, you'll have the chance to make a real difference improving our corporate data and information management to make it more widely available and discoverable, easily accessible and compliant with the NZ legal context.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Empower Productivity: Support the company in maximizing the value of corporate information and records and associated systems, enhancing productivity, and enabling informed decision-making.
  • Elevate Records Management: Implement best practices in records management to enhance our business operations and align with our legal requirements.
  • Champion Data Protection: Lead efforts to ensure the responsible handling of personal information, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

This position is permanent, full time, reports to the Knowledge Services Manager, and is based at our Lincoln site.

About you

You will possess a Tertiary level qualification in Information Management, ideally to post graduate level.  You will also have at least three plus year's relevant work experience ideally in a science or research organisation, or local or central government setting.  We'll be looking for you to have

  • Strong demonstrable knowledge of and experience in modern approaches to the management of corporate information
  • Experience with administering electronic document and records management systems.
  • Knowledge of and application of relevant legislation and associated standards such as the Public Records Act 2005, data privacy and protection and information security.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills with experience in training others.
