Position Overview

Ako Aotearoa is New Zealand’s Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence. Our mission is to work together with tertiary education providers and agencies to enhance the effectiveness of tertiary teaching and learning. Established in 2007, Ako Aotearoa is funded through contracts with the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and hosted by a Massey University-led consortium.


Nga kawenga matua/ Key responsibilities:

  • Protect and promote the Ako Aotearoa brand with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all content, services, and initiatives align with our brand standards, bolstering our reputation.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing Team to develop campaigns that elevate Ako Aotearoa's presence and impact.
  • Assist in the consistent and effective use of our brand identity across all channels.
  • Identify opportunities to amplify our brand presence and engagement with key stakeholders and sectors.


Nga whakaritenga mahi / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or equivalent.
  • Essential experience in communications and social media management.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of brand management principles is highly desirable.
  • Ability to adapt communication styles for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance to our work is essential.

  • Proficiency in creative design, publishing, and video editing.
  • Cultural competence and the ability to work respectfully with diverse communities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
