Te āheinga: The opportunity

At Unitec, our Bachelor of Nursing Science programme prepares our future nurses of Aotearoa for an exciting and rewarding career, caring for our sick, elderly and tamariki. We are currently recruiting for a technician to support our Bachelor of Nursing students on a casual basis.

As our Technician, you'll prepare and set up the Laboratory classes. You'll be responsible for looking after laboratory instruments and training people on how to use them, whilst upholding to our Health and Safety guidelines here at Unitec. You will assist the Senior Technician to oversee and provide technical assistance and support to our academic staff. You'll also engage in a wide spectrum of hands-on science tasks.

You'll have a passion for developing the next generation of Nurses, who are well-educated, research-informed and adept in critical thinking.

You'll have:

  • You are a strong communicator with impeccable time management skills.
  • Since your start and finish times vary week to week, you are flexible and adaptable to work within the set roster.
  • Ideally, you are already work in a tertiary sector supporting laboratory classes.
  • A Bachelor in Science is essential with your major in a similar field.
  • An understanding or desire to learn Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
