Join our team of experienced nurse educators in the Unitec Bachelor of Nursing programme, which is committed to providing excellence in nursing education and student success. Join a family-focused team that creates a balance that only a few other workplaces can boast.

We are seeking two registered nurses who have nursing experience in mental health to join our team to support our students learning in the clinical placement areas.

Te āheinga: The opportunity

Clinical Teachers are needed to support our BN team in providing teaching for students during their clinical experience and on occasions for theoretical aspects in the classroom.

Much clinical experience occurs during the second part of each semester (e.g. from May-July and September-Mid-December). Simulation and tutorial learning occur throughout the year.

This is an exciting casual position for someone who wants to bring energy and experience to a team of committed nurse lecturers and clinical teachers or find out if nurse education is your next career move.

He kōrero mōu: About you

A clinical teacher needs to be a Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate, a minimum of 2 years post-registration experience and for this role a current background in Mental Health nursing practice.

Overall, this person needs to have a passion for promoting nursing education, working in collaboration with the clinical areas and being part of a supportive and committed team during these months.

You'll have:

  • A current APC for a Registered Nurse.
  • Background in Mental Health nursing practice.
  • A genuine passion for student success and great communication
  • Enjoy working within a team towards shared goals.
  • An understanding or desire to learn Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments

In addition, be able to influence the community of Waitakere through the support/training of nursing students who will then be able to support the maintenance of physical/mental/emotional health for people in Waitakere and wider communities.  The Te Whatu ora require more Registered Nurses to be trained and committed to the Waitakere community in order to ensure that there are sufficient resources to support the growing healthcare needs in this area.
