Are you the sort of person who would stop and help if you saw someone in need of assistance?  Do you have good life skills, common sense and communication skills?

If you want to positively influence young people from around New Zealand and the world as they make the transition to adulthood, we want you!

The role/Te mahi

As a Campus Watch team member, your role in the first instance is a pastoral one. You will work to foster and maintain a safe and secure Campus environment that encourages and enables all students to realise their maximum potential.

Campus Watch staff work across campus and in the North Dunedin community, essentially operating as walking information booths for the University of Otago.

We work in five teams on a permanent 24-hour roster (two early shifts, two evening shifts, two-night shifts, then four days off, with the cycle then repeating).

You will be expected to maintain a highly visible presence about the University to prevent crime and disorder, and to respond and act promptly to requests for assistance when personal safety or property is at risk.

•    An ability to relate to young people.
•    Excellent communication skills.
•    A high standard of common sense, patience, and tact.
•    An ability to form effective working relationships with people of varying backgrounds.
•    A well-developed sense of humour.
•    A reasonable knowledge of relevant New Zealand law.
•    A current Driver’s Licence
•    A current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
•    Basic computing skills.
