The role/Te mahi

As the Business Support Co-ordinator for Quantum Technologies Aotearoa (QTA) research programme, you will coordinate a range of business development and administrative activities for the research programme and provide proactive and professional support to the Programme Manager.

This role guarantees variety and will include:
•    Administration support to the Programme Manager including providing statistics, data analysis and writing reports.
•    Preparing financial reporting and research contracts.
•    Managing generic emails.
•    Servicing committees.
•    Overseeing financial transactions/reconciliations/funding awards.
•    Contributing to annual reporting data collection.
•    Communication (including newsletters).
•    Maintaining the website.
•    Planning and logistics for travel for events and workshops.

To be successful in this role you will have:
•    University qualification or have equivalent experience in administration with high attention to detail.
•    The ability to work independently and as part of a small collaborative team.
•    Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
•    Excellent organisational and time management skills.

A scientific background, previous experience working within a research institute or within a research environment with external stakeholders is preferred.

About our team/Mō te tīma

The Quantum Technologies Aotearoa research programme is a new research programme that sits within and is administered by Te Whai Ao — Dodd-Walls Centre for Photonic and Quantum Technologies (DWC). The DWC is a Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE), hosted by the University of Otago.

The QTA programme leads internationally collaborative projects aimed at developing new quantum technologies. New international links will be established, and existing ones strengthened. We will train researchers in new quantum technologies and foster those early in their careers.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours), fixed term position until 31 December 2028, located in Dunedin.

The appointment range for this position is $65,281 to $69,648 per annum.
