Offer Description
Postdoctoral position within the project “Quantum resource theories: from theoretical tool to practical applications” (Sonata BIS, NCN, UMO-2022/46/E/ST2/00115) is available at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland.
Successful candidates will work within the team led by Prof. Alexander Streltsov on one of the following topics:
- Quantum resource theories: exploring fundamental features of quantum systems, such as quantum entanglement, coherence, and quantum thermodynamics. Addressing questions such as the state conversion problem, quantifying resource costs for quantum process implementation.
- Quantum communication and quantum computation: application of quantum resource theories to quantify resource consumption in quantum communication protocols and to detect quantum features required for noisy quantum computation.
- Open quantum systems: application of quantum entanglement and coherence to detect and quantify memory effects in open quantum systems.
The candidate will be offered possibilities to collaborate with other theoretical and experimental groups within Warsaw’s research community.

Skills/Qualifications
Profile of the candidates:
Postdoc candidates should have a PhD degree in engineering, physics or related area, and have research expertise in at least one of the following topics: quantum resource theories, open quantum systems, quantum speed limits, quantum computation.
Key responsibilities of the candidate:
- Investigation of general quantum features, such as entanglement and quantum coherence, with applications in quantum communication protocols and quantum computation
- Preparation and dissemination of the research results at international workshops and conferences

Employment conditions:
Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension
Remuneration amount/month: 11 666 PLN gross gross (employment contract)
Selection process
Recruitment rules:

2) A person applying for a post-doc position must meet the following conditions:
a) obtained a doctoral degree in 2017 or later
b) the project manager was not the supervisor or auxiliary supervisor of applicant’s doctoral dissertation;
c) obtained a doctoral degree in an entity other than the entity where employment in this position is planned, or completed at least 10-month, continuous and documented postdoctoral internship in an entity other than the entity implementing the project and in a country other than the country of obtaining the doctoral degree;
d) will be employed for a period of not less than 6 months;
e) during the period of receiving this remuneration, will not receive any other remuneration from funds allocated as direct costs from research projects financed under NCN calls;
f) during the period of receiving this remuneration, will not receive remuneration from another employer under an employment contract, including from an employer based outside the territory of Poland;
g) during the period of receiving this remuneration, will not receive retirement benefits from the social security system.
