What we are looking for | Ngā whainga matua

You will work with the Direction Leader - Digital Horticultural Systems to develop and deliver on Māori engagement and Māori relevant research to realise the vision of building a digital twin of our horticultural production systems.   As part of a dedicated team creating opportunities to weave western science and Mātauranga Māori for the benefit of Aotearoa, New Zealand, you will demonstrate your passion for data, modelling and analytics towards building tomorrow's food systems that are resilient and sustainable. The research and engagement focus of this role will be attractive to someone who thrives on building co-innovation opportunities with Māori for research in the digital and agritech spaces.   You will co-ordinate Māori-relevant research and partnership activity, ensuring alignment with priorities, and be a trusted point of contact for Māori partners and researchers.    Your ability to coach and mentor others will ensure growth opportunities for individuals and sustained development for research programmes.

What you'll bring | Ngā tino Pūkenga me ngā Wheako

  • You will have a Bachelor of Science or Technology and/or experience in an agricultural, horticultural or environmental research field.
  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of Mātauranga Māori, principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga me te reo Māori and application to the science and innovation sector and/or a demonstrated ability to work with those that have this knowledge.
  • Experience leading others and encouraging buy-in to strategy
  • Experience in relationship management and developing and maintaining extensive internal and external networks.
  • Ability to present to a variety of audiences
  • Flexibility to travel is essential
