As a Scientific Information Specialist, you will support both research at WUR and the implementation of strategic WUR goals in the field of scientific information and open science. In your position, you will be responsible for advising, training, and developing information materials in the field of scientific publishing, Open Access, and searching scientific literature. In addition, you will follow national and international developments in this area and help to develop and implement appropriate services within the organization.
Your tasks and responsibilities as a Scientific Information Specialist are:

  • Providing instructions, workshops, courses and advice to researchers, policy makers and managers in the field of scientific publishing and Open Access;
  • Identifying new developments and translating them into information materials, manuals or work processes;
  • Conducting and supporting literature research;
  • Providing reports on WUR's publication practice;
  • Establish and maintain contact with parties within and outside WUR.

You will work together with 3 colleagues who are responsible for support in the field of scientific publishing and Open Access. You will be part of WUR Library's Research Support Team, which provides support to researchers in areas such as scientific publishing, open science and research data management.


Your qualities

Your qualities
You have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders such as researchers, policymakers and other supporters. In addition, you have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and service-oriented environment. You are proactive, enthusiastic and you get energy from providing workshops and training for researchers.

You also have:

  • An academic degree at master's level or equivalent through experience;
  • Experience with searching for scientific literature;
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language, both verbally and in writing;
  • Knowledge of the scientific publication process is a plus;
  • Experience with the use of bibliographic databases is a plus.

WUR Library, with 65 dedicated staff members spread over four specialized departments, offers innovative support to researchers and students. You will help us to optimize the use of our collections, systems and support services from the perspective of our users. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 3088 and €5035 for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10). A contract between 28 and 32 hours can be discussed. You will initially receive a one-year contract, which will be extended to an open-ended contract upon in mutual enthusiasm.
