Open Education Stimulation Fund Community Manager

Updated: 8 days ago
Deadline: 10 Jun 2024

Open education emphasizes the access to and the sharing of knowledge and educational resources, and the implementation of new pedagogical practices that arise by the use of Open Educational Resources (OER). The presence of this movement has been slowly increasing in higher education, and TU Delft has been integrating open principles into its campus education since the start of the Open Science Programme in 2020.

To involve teachers more closely into shaping what open education looks like at TU Delft, the Open Education Stimulation Fund (OESF) has been set up in 2022. The OESF allows teachers to apply for funding with 1-year projects that relate to open education. The first cohort of projects ran in 2023, with a total of 11 projects. (Find more details about the projects here ).

To make the most out of the OESF initiative, we are looking for a Community Manager that can provide the project groups with advise, guidance, and a time and space where they can get to know and learn from each other. As Community Manager, your tasks and areas of activity will involve:

  • Meeting with the project leaders/members of each project on a periodic basis (on average two-three times during the one-year project period) to stay up-to-date on their progress.
  • Keeping the Open Science Core Team up to date on the progress of projects and consulting the team if needed.
  • Organising community events for project leaders/members on commonly appearing themes, issues, and areas of potential professional development; these events may also provide project leaders/members with space for exchange of ideas and feedback from each other on their projects (4-6 meetup events throughout the year).
  • Promote and maintain an active MS Teams environment that serves as a first point of contact for project leaders.
  • Working with the Library Communication team to deliver periodic news items on the projects.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Minimum two years of experience in academia/higher education either in a research/teaching function or as educational support staff.
  • Available for 8-12h/week for a period of 40 weeks.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Duration of contract is for a period of 40 weeks.
  • A job of 8-10 hours per week.
  • A salary based on scale 10 of the CAO for Dutch Universities with a minimum of €3.226,- and a maximum of €5.090,- gross per month based on a fulltime contract (38 hours), plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
  • An excellent pension scheme via the ABP.
  • The possibility to compile an individual employment package every year.
  • Discount with health insurers.
  • Flexible working week.
  • Every year, 232 leave hours (at 38 hours). You can also sell or buy additional leave hours via the individual choice budget.
  • Plenty of opportunities for education, training and courses.
  • Partially paid parental leave
  • Attention for working healthy and energetically with the vitality program.
