Offer Description
We are looking for three new colleagues with a heart for teaching. You will contribute to teaching in the BA History, the MA International Relations in Historical Perspective and/or the MA Conflict Studies and Human Rights.
Your job
Teaching seminar groups will form the largest part of your work, and you will do this in a team and under the supervision of a course coordinator. As a seminar group teacher, you are also responsible for marking assignments and exams. Together with your colleagues, you provide small-scale and activating education and guide students in their learning process. In addition, your tasks may include the supervision of theses and/or internships.
You will teach both in and beyond the areas of your expertise. We are looking for a lecturer with an expertise in one or more of our thematic clusters “Conflict and Security”, “Global and Imperial Relations” and “Europe and the World.” We welcome applications from candidates who will help expand our geographic expertise (e.g., Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe) and have an interest in interdisciplinary education.
Requirements
Specific Requirements
For this position, we are looking for a committed colleague with a passion for education. You enjoy being part of a team and are open to collaboration in various contexts, sharing knowledge and experiences and contributing to an open, inclusive, and collegial atmosphere.
In addition, you:
- are able to convey your knowledge to students in an engaging way;
- would like to further develop your teaching skills;
- can plan and organise your work well;
- can handle moments of peak workload well.
More specifically, the following requirements apply:
- a completed MA or RMA in History;
- experience in providing Bachelor education or other relevant teaching experience;
- fully proficient in English (at an academic level).
Within this position, 10% of your time is available to spend on development. If you do not yet have a Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO), you are expected to obtain this within your development time in the first two years of your employment.
The department is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We welcome employees who contribute to the diversity of our faculty through their unique backgrounds and perspectives.
Candidates from abroad must fulfil the conditions set by the IND to work in the Netherlands .
