The AMOLF NanoLab Amsterdamis a research facility for the fabrication and characterization of devices and materials on the micro- and nanometer scale. The NanoLab includes a cleanroom with many high-quality equipment for nanolithography and material deposition and structuring, as well as a wide range of characterization techniques including advanced (scanning and transmission) electron microscopy.

The NanoLab is used by AMOLF researchers and external parties, including other academic institutions and industrial users. As part of the NanoLabNL consortium, it serves as a national facility. The NanoLab team consists of the head, a lab manager, and 4 other technicians. The team installs and maintains the advanced equipment, trains and assists the users of the lab, and develops new techniques and processes at the cutting edge of technological possibilities. As head of the NanoLab group, you lead the team and are responsible for optimal functioning of the facility. You take the lead in professionalization and further development of the role of the NanoLab as national facility. You coordinate the acquisition of new equipment and the development of processes and new technology, based on your knowledge and experience with nanotechnology research and the relevant techniques. You are directly involved in the support and development in the lab, in the context of your specialist expertise. You monitor and adopt developments in the field. Advising users and scientific group leaders on equipment and processes for nanofabrication and -characterization is part of your work.

You manage the group’s finances and maintain contacts with the users and other stakeholders of the NanoLab. You take care of external communication and project reports, and represent the facility within the national partnerships NanoLabNL and NEMI. In these tasks you will work closely together with the lab manager and the scientific coordinator of the NanoLab, as well as the various support groups of AMOLF.
