Job description
The Department of Imaging Physics in the faculty of Applied Sciences at TU Delft invites applications for Full Professor positions. You are expected to establish an independent research line in an important area of imaging physics that adds to our current research portfolio. The proposed research is expected to be challenging and aiming for fundamental scientific or technological breakthroughs in the respective field, and to incite enthusiasm with peers, students, and the general public. We look forward to a convincing case for relevance to societal challenges and for the viability of the externally funded research line, based on a promising perspective in personal and collaborative grants and in public-private partnerships. We will consider any proposal of relevance, not exclusively those that fit with our current portfolio. Requirements
We seek principal investigators with an outstanding scientific track record, researchers with a creative and collaborative mentality who appreciate scientific and engineering challenges in imaging physics and who through their research, management skills, and teaching qualities can inspire co-workers and students alike.
Candidates are expected to establish a strong, externally funded research program and to show commitment to excellence in teaching at undergraduate (Dutch or English) as well as graduate level (English).
Conditions of employment
The salary for full professors varies between € 6.099 - €10.721 per month gross depending on experience.
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. The TU Delft offers a customisable compensation package, a discount on health insurance and sport memberships, and a monthly work costs contribution. Flexible work schedules can be arranged.

Inspiring, excellent education is our central aim. We expect you to obtain a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) within three years if you have less than five years of teaching experience. This is provided by the TU Delft UTQ programme.
TU Delft sets high standards for the English competency of the teaching staff. The TU Delft offers training to improve English competency. If you do not speak Dutch, we offer courses to learn the Dutch language.

Faculty Applied Sciences
With more than 1,000 employees, including 135 pioneering principal investigators, as well as a population of about 3,400 passionate students, the Faculty of Applied Sciences is an inspiring scientific ecosystem. Focusing on key enabling technologies, such as quantum- and nanotechnology, photonics, biotechnology, synthetic biology and materials for energy storage and conversion, our faculty aims to provide solutions to important problems of the 21st century. To that end, we train students in broad Bachelor's and specialist Master's programmes with a strong research component. Our scientists conduct ground-breaking fundamental and applied research in the fields of Life and Health Science & Technology, Nanoscience, Chemical Engineering, Radiation Science & Technology, and Engineering Physics. Impaging Physics Department
The department's ambition is to be leading in developing novel instrumentation and methodology in imaging science and sensing technology. As such the department's profile encompasses a mix of science, engineering and design. In the domain of life and health we target the full range from pre-clinical life sciences oriented research and instrumentation/method development to direct clinical applications. We pioneer in optical neuro-imaging, super-resolution microscopy, MRI, ultrasound, OCT, and scattering and diffraction based diagnostics. In the domain of digital society we achieve impact on the semiconductor manufacturing sector by cutting edge tools for imaging, sensing and precision metrology, such as lensless imaging, optical system design, nano-photonic components, electron optics, and hybrid electron-optical imaging systems. In both sectors there is a prominent role for Artificial Intelligence and computational imaging techniques.
