Offer Description

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a devastating chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system, of which the cause is still unknown, the course is highly unpredictable and disability progression is inevitable.

We are looking for a highly motivated computational biologist to design workflows and tools to connect multidimensional (genetic, immunological, clinical and radiological) data of people with MS at different stages of their disease and develop this as a computational approach to track down (and thus treat) progression as early as possible. You will create a bioinformatics and computational environment based on machine learning algorithms that contributes to the generation of innovative and reproducible parameters that take our patient-oriented research to the next level.

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team involving neurologists, immunologists and other biological experts to solve questions and discover features relevant for the clinical course of MS using your bioinformatics expertise. In-house genetic, serology, radiological and clinical data will be processed, interrogated, visualized and integrated with state-of-the art single cell (lymphocyte) transcriptome and phenotype datasets to create a computational signature for `smoldering' MS.
