Are you enthusiastic about transferring your knowledge, motivating and inspiring students, and making an impact in education? We are actively searching for an education-focused Assistant Professor in Software Engineering and Information Systems to join our Software division . You will play a pivotal role in contributing to the success of our Bachelor's (BSc) and Master's (MSc) programmes. In particular, you will be involved in the Bsc programmes in Information Science and Computing Science and in the MSc programme in Business Informatics .

As a prospective member of the Software division, you have experience in higher education in computer science, software engineering, or information systems and the ambition to make a significant contribution in these fields, preferably in the following areas:

  • software engineering, including model-driven engineering, software project management, and software architecture;
  • software business, including IT-based entrepreneurship and startups;
  • organisational theory, especially in relationship to information systems and their engineering.

Key responsibilities in this position include:

  • teaching and coordinating courses within the BSc and MSc programmes mentioned above;
  • supervising student projects and graduation research;
  • participating in organisational activities within our department and faculty.

In addition, you get the opportunity to develop yourself by:

  • investigating and encouraging the use of ICT in education and assessment (including, e.g., challenge-based learning, generative AI tools);
  • innovating in teaching and education;
  • enriching and diversifying your education by establishing connections between teaching, research, and societal partners (e.g., via continuous education programs and joint thesis projects with external partners);
  • being involved in education-related committees and decision taking;
  • taking on education-related leadership roles (e.g., programme coordination).

Profiel

You bring the following qualifications:

  • a PhD degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field;
  • experience with and enthusiasm for developing, coordinating, and teaching courses in our BSc and/or MSc programmes;
  • a vision on education in your own area of expertise and the broader context;
  • experience with, and enthusiasm to supervise BSc and MSc students and potentially co-supervise PhD candidates;
  • interest in acquiring (external) research funds for the development of education;
  • publications in international conferences and journals;
  • proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Dutch proficiency or basic skills with the willingness to learn is a plus.

    Aanbod
    We offer:
    • an appointment as Assistant Professor with education focus, starting with a fixed-term contract. Following a positive evaluation after 18 months, this will be converted into a permanent contract;
    • a full-time gross salary – depending on previous qualifications and experience - ranging between €4,332 and €5,929 per month (scale 11 - according to the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) Dutch Universities). If you are an experienced Assistant Professor, scale 12 may apply, which ranges from €5,247 to €6,737 per month for full time employment.
    • 8% holiday bonus and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
    • A pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible employment conditions based on the CAO.
    Special perks include:
    • for starting Assistant Professors: an Individual Development Plan providing training and mentoring to support you to grow from Assistant Professor level 2 (salary scale 11) to Assistant Professor level 1 (salary scale 12);
    • support for travelling to conference and various educational and development programmes offered by our University.
