The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. The faculty's research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers six Bachelor and twenty Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.

The Department of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences, together with the Imaging AI group at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine, is looking for a Research and Development Specialist.

Your Role...

The Imaging AI group develops applied AI research focused on biomedical signal analysis and medical image computing. The general aim of the group is translating algorithms from fundamental AI and imaging research closer to a concrete biomedical application. A current main focus is on developing more robust AI models for applied image computing, for example by employing domain adaptation, joint embedding architectures, or similar techniques. The specific project is a close collaboration with the Dept. of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences and revolves around multi-modal data fusing / joint embedding architectures for imaging and cognitive markers, in particular for pain assessment.

What we expect from you…

  • At least a Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Interest in applied machine learning, including but not limited to deep learning
  • Interest in image analysis / computer vision and pattern recognition, including but not limited to biomedical applications, in particular for neuroscience
  • Experience with recent deep learning frameworks (e.g. Pytorch, MONAI)
  • Experience with programming languages (Python, MATLAB)
  • Experience utilising GPU enabled High-Performance Computing environments is an asset
  • Open minded critical thinker, willing to actively contribute to the further development of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary research team
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills
