Offer Description

Within the Department of Precision Health, Dr. Torsten Bohn , Head of the Nutrition & Health Research Group (NUTRIHEALTH), aims, in collaboration with his team, to explore dietary patterns, their (non)nutrient composition, metabolism and association to chronic conditions, e.g. metabolic syndrome and related aspects. An important focus is the relation of diet to public health and associated innovative biomarkers of dietary intervention, such as oxidative stress, body composition, micronutrients, and phytochemicals. A close collaboration with the other departmental teams around environmental pollution, physical activity, and e-health exists.

For a project related to obesity prevention and cardiometabolic health, we are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow (m/f/d) to participate in research on biomarkers targeting obesity prevention on one hand, and on the other hand, aid in the conduction of intervention trials that target obesity prevention through a multi-portfolio approach, encompassing diet, physical activity and psychological aspects.

The work will be carried out in the background of a large international EU project (HealthyW8 ) with 24 partners. In the frame of this work, the post doc will benefit from the local expertise of Dr. Torsten Bohn in nutrition and health, and Dr. Farhad Vahid in nutritional epidemiology.Statistical support and support for conducting clinical trials in-house is available.

 


Key Accountabilities
  • Organization of clinical trials targeting obesity prevention in the elderly;
  • Participating in laboratory measures of biomarkers related to obesity;
  • Participating in conducting reviews on obesity;
  • Discuss results within EU consortium & other researchers;
  • Interpret findings statistically;
  • Participate in project meetings & organization;
  • Give presentations at local institute level and conferences.

 
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • PhD in Nutrition, Public Health, Pharmacy or comparable;
  • Experience in working on systematic/scoping reviews and and large datasets is an asset;
  • Practical experience in the laboratory, preferrably related to biomarkers;
  • Excellent writing and oral skills in English;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • High motivation and discipline.
