Offer Description

About us...

The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg. We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors.

The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary and together we contribute to science and society.

We are looking for a qualified candidate to reinforce the scientific management as well as the coordination of activities of key national and international projects in the Translational Neuroscience (TN) group , (with a focus on EPND https://epnd.org ).

Your Role...

The TN group, headed by Prof. Dr. Rejko Krüger, is bridging the gap between fundamental research and clinical care, to help citizens affected by neurodegenerative diseases via earlier diagnosis, precision therapies and effective prevention in Luxembourg and beyond. Fundamental research focuses on patient-based induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC)-derived neuronal models to elucidate the molecular and cellular alterations contributing to neurodegeneration, with a focus of Parkinson's disease. The clinical research focus is part of the National Centre for Excellence in Research on Parkinson's Disease (NCER-PD https://parkinson.lu/ ) in the context of which people with neurodegenerative diseases, people at risk for neurodegeneration, and healthy subjects from Luxembourg and the Greater Region are recruited for cohorts and can directly contribute to translational research. Thus, the research strategy embeds the "from bed to bench to bedside" approach.

The TN group manages national and international projects which are aimed at creating impact for patients and citizens in Luxembourg and beyond, and translating this successful approach into new transversal projects in biomedicine.
