Offer Description

The Multi-omics Data Science Group is part of the Department of Cancer Research at LIH. We focus on various modalities of high-throughput molecular data obtained in cancer biology. We aim to integrate corresponding data layers to improve our understanding of cancers and drive better patient stratification and treatment. Dr. Reka Toth, the PI of the project,  has expertise in epigenetics, bioinformatics and multi-omics profiling.

PROJECT

We are looking for a proactive, agile and committed postdoctoral researcher to join our new project aiming to develop techniques for rapid omics profiling.
Recent studies have uncovered biomarkers at various omics levels. Nonetheless, a substantial limitation of these biomarkers is the time-consuming aspects of sample processing, data acquisition and analysis, and the demand for specialized expertise. A pivotal advancement in translational efforts would require streamlining and enhancing this process. The goal of our project is to establish fast, reliable methods to exploit the recent technological and scientific advances to improve personalized medicine. Therefore, we would like to establish a platform that allows clinicians to get timely results from previously developed multi-omics biomarker panels based on Nanopore barcode sequencing and targeted proteomics. We also aim to establish a cfDNA-based DNA and methylome sequencing method to monitor cancer patients and identify potential relapse before it is possible with traditional imaging methods.
The project is primarily centered around wet-lab activities with added computational components. The level of involvement in the computational aspect is adaptable to suit the candidate's preferences. As part of our team, we offer a vibrant multidisciplinary and multinational working environment, fostering collaboration and innovation. LIH offers comprehensive training programs in both scientific advancements and essential soft skills.
