NFL (NanoFabrication Laboratory) Operations Manager

ICFO is a research center located in the Mediterranean Technology Park in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, and currently hosts 400+ people, including researchers, PhD students and staff personnel. Today, in its area of specialization and category, the institute is consistently ranked among the highest-quality research institutions worldwide.

ICFO’s NFL Team is responsible for managing and running operations of the Nanofabrication Laboratory (NFL), a clean room ISO 6/7 research core facility open to all ICFO research groups.

We are currently looking for a NFL Operations Manager who will join the NFL team to manage and coordinate the laboratory facilities and resources, to train users and to guarantee effective and safe operation, reporting to the NFL Head.

The main responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Oversee the technical and technological infrastructure to ensure the optimal performance, competitiveness and efficiency of the facility.
  
• Develop and implement the NFL policies and best practice guidelines, to ensure the proper and safe operation of the facility.
  
• Ensure a quick and efficient response when facing an incident or a tool break down.
  
• Manage the access and training of the facility users.
  
• Supervise and train the NFL support technicians.
  
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of people.
  
• Plan the renewal of older tools, the purchase of new technological equipment and the growth of the facility in coordination with the NFL scientific committee.
  
• Communicate and establish partnership with external suppliers and vendors.
  

The NFL facility is ready to move to the new ICFO- MPB building; as such, responsibilities also include:

• Pro-active role on the move of tools and the start-up of the new NFL facility, ensuring a smooth transition and keeping down times to a minimum.
