Your Role...

The holder of this position will be a member of the Department of Behavioural Cognitive Sciences within the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. She/he will complement the research on ageing in the department with a thematic focus on technology and/or digitalization and a broad view on adulthood; this will foster the analysis of lifelong development and promote the analysis of the conditions of ageing. Since life-span developmental psychology is very sensitive to the role of socio-cultural contexts, she/he will also provide synergies in collaboration with other researchers engaged in cultural psychology and in research topics related to migration and multilingualism.

Teaching areas

The holder will provide teaching and expertise to the programmes in psychology at bachelor and master level, and in particular the “Master en Gérontologie” (as well as possibly also other programmes, such as the “Master of Management and Coaching”). 

What we expect from you…

  • Outstanding Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology or related fields;
  • Expertise in lifespan developmental psychology with a focus on (mid to late) adulthood;
  • Expertise in technology use and/or digitalization as domains and contexts of development;
  • Experience in state-of-the-art methods to analyse developmental data from different sources (longitudinal, micro-longitudinal, experimental);
  • Sensitivity for the role of cultural factors in development;
  • Ideally a minimum of three years of post-doctoral experience acquired in a university or comparable research centre;
  • An appropriate international research profile as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference participation, and collaboration in international research initiatives; and University-level teaching experience at the undergraduate and the postgraduate level.
  • Mentoring and management experience;
  • Experience with interdisciplinary research;
  • Experience with public outreach;
  • Visibility in the scientific community.

Language requirements

The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. The person hired on this position must be proficient in English and either French or German. The University encourages its staff to learn the other language and provides access to language courses to this end.
