YOUR TEAM

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where computational scientists, physicists, chemists, mechanical and electrical engineers, biologists and biotechnologists collaborate, to carry out a scientific activity centered around a common research goal.

The Multiscale and Quantum Simulations Research Line is coordinated by Sauro Succi, who has extensive experience in computational physics, with special emphasis on complex states of flowing matter and lately quantum computing for fluids as well.

The research focuses on computational modeling of complex fluid systems, including soft flowing matter, relativistic fluids and lately also quantum computing models for fluid flows.

Your main responsibilities will be:

·Develop a quantum computing algorithm and corresponding quantum circuit for the simulation of fluid flows

·Test the algorithn on classical computers and run them on quantum computers

This open position is financed within the EPNRRCN1 CN HPC project. Progetto “National Centre for HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing”, CUP J33C22001180001, ammesso a finanziamento dal MUR con Decreto Direttoriale di concessione delle agevolazioni n. 1031 del 17 giugno 2022, in risposta all’Avviso N. 3138 del 16/12/2021 che dà attuazione all’Investimento 1.4 - “Potenziamento strutture di ricerca e creazione di "campioni nazionali di R&S" su alcune Key Enabling Technologies” – nell’ambito della Missione 4 “Istruzione e ricerca”, Componente 2 “Dalla ricerca all’impresa” del Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

·A PhD in Physics, including Engineering, Mathematics, Computer science, and related disciplines

·Documented experience in quantum computing and computational fluid dynamics methods  

·Strong publication record

·Ability to properly report, organize and publish research data

·Documented experience in coaching junior scientists

·Good command of spoken and written English

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

·Experience in computational methods and scientific programming  

·Knowledge of C, Fortran, Python, Qiskit woud be highly desirable 

·Good communication skills

·Strong problem-solving attitude

·High motivation to learn

·Spirit of innovation and creativity

·Good at time and priority management

·Ability to work in a challenging and international environment

·Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
