Applications are invited for a Temporary post of a UCD Research Assistant within UCD School of Medicine
The Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund (DTIF) is a €500 million challenge-based fund established under Project Ireland 2040. It is one of four funds set up under the National Development Plan (NDP) 2018-2027. It is managed by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and administered by Enterprise Ireland. Our DTIF funded project is focused on development of a disruptive gene therapy platform technology to treat genetic disorders using novel polymer-based delivery systems as an alternative to viral methods.
Initially, the primary focus of this adaptive technology has been for the treatment of the rare skin fragility disorder, epidermolysis bullosa, and it will be extended to other genetic conditions such as cystic fibrosis. This post is to fulfil key deliverables of UCD as the academic research partner within the consortium, by supporting the Postdoctoral Researcher in charge of generating new animal models (mouse) and using them to test the efficacy and safety of novel gene therapy technologies.
The successful candidate will work as part of a well-established and dynamic research team in the UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology. This is a research focused role aimed at developing your research skills and competences. You will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator and the Post-Doctoral Researcher.
Salary Range: €27,380 - €36,786 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
