Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science

The objective of the BioValue project is to quantify the size, value and environmental impacts of the bioeconomy in Ireland. BioValue will take a top-down national scale approach to understand the magnitude and interaction of components of the bioeconomy and to estimate environmental impacts. It will integrate spatial analysis of feedstocks, economic input-output modelling and life cycle assessment. This position is central to the project because it sits at the nexus of the input-output modelling, impact assessment and feedstock mapping. The successful candidate will use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to investigate the spatial distribution of bio-resources and feedstocks to create a bio-resource map. Of Ireland, and will work closely with economic modellers to complete a sector-scale Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of bioeconomy activity in Ireland.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:
- Bioeconomy Map of Ireland.
- IO-LCA of the bioeconomy sector in Ireland (in conjunction with economic modelling experts)
- Administrative report preparation
Salary: € 42,783 - € 49,177
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
