Specific Purpose Part Time Post (0.6FTE, 3 days per week) 

(anticipated duration 12 months)  

This is an exciting opportunity to join UCC’s in-house legal team who provide a wide range of legal services to ensure the supports the delivery of the University’s strategic plan, provides a framework for good governance, enables innovation and enhances the reputation of the University.

All solicitors carry a varied portfolio of work and each solicitor is aligned to a specific college or functional area(s).  A vacancy now exists for a solicitor to work maternity leave cover in UCC’s Office of Corporate & Legal Affairs

The successful candidate, reporting to the Head of Legal and Director of Legal & Information Compliance, will participate in the roles and responsibilities of the Legal & Information Compliance unit including:

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts and other legal documentation;
  • Provide clear and concise explanations of legal issues to UCC staff at all levels;
  •  Support and advice on complaints, investigations, discipline and legal resolution of UCC’s affairs.
  • Work as part of the inter-disciplinary team, providing high quality and pragmatic legal advice as requested;
  • Input into the development and review of policies and procedures in accordance with UCC’s policy framework;
  • Deliver and provide support and/or training to members of UCC on legal and procedural matters where required;
  • Be proactive in contributing to legal risk management for UCC.

Appointment may be made on the Admin I (Grade 7) Salary Scale (pro-rata 0.6 FTE): €78,565- €103,495 (Scale B) / €75,862 - €98,318 (Scale A)) 

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
