Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 30 Jan 2024

Post Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to work on an exciting, recently funded, Enterprise Ireland Innovation Partnership Programme.

The programme of work will investigate how a functional food ingredient Aquamin impacts inflammation in the context of cardiovascular disease.

The project here will build on an established program of work between Dr Lucitt at TCD and industry partner Marigot Ltd looking at the effects of Aquamin, a marine multi- mineral supplement in influencing key immune modulatory pathways in innate immune cells.

The current project will examine the impact of Aquamin, on driving atherosclerosis a chronic inflammatory disease and the primary underlying pathological feature of cardiovascular myocardial infarctions (heart attacks) and thrombotic strokes.

The post will involve cellular, molecular, and preclinical modelling approaches to investigate if modulating inflammation using Aquamin impacts on atherosclerosis disease progression.
