Location: Dublin Harbour, LEINSTER
Job Type: PartTime
Deadline: 24 Jan 2024

Applications are invited for a temporarypost of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Law.

We are seeking to employ a Research Assistant for the project "Innovative and flexible approaches to working time (INNOVAWORKING)" This is a collaborative project, led by Universidad Carlos III (Madrid) - UMC3, with collaborations from Finland, Hungary and Ireland as well as a Spanish trade union and NGO. Inspired by changes initiated in the pandemic, the project focuses on innovative policies on organising work, including working time arrangements, that have been negotiated between trade unions and employers both in the public and private sector. The research will assess innovative agreements that provide for shorter or flexible working time, also covering hybrid and remote working practices. It will consider the extent to which those agreements contribute to a better worklife balance, and also examine trade unions and employers' responses to any trends towards longer hours and problems created by zero-hour or low-hour contracts.
The contribution of UCD is focused on the Irish case study, delivering information on legal frameworks for collective bargaining and social dialogue as well as for flexible working time and remote working, and also engaging in qualitative research using expert interviews with social partners.
The research assistant will work closely with Professor Dagmar Schiek in delivering this work. It is limited to 40% working time, and suitable to be conducted alongside other obligations. The position may involve occasional travel within Ireland and the EU.

Salary: €30,025 per annum at 0.4fte pro rata (€12,371 per annum)
