Research Assistant in Psychology

Updated: 16 minutes ago
Location: Dublin Bar, LEINSTER
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 30 Apr 2024

Post Summary

Applications are invited for the role of Research Assistant at Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience (TCIN) to work in the Multisensory Perception and Cognition (MPAC) Lab headed by Prof. Fiona Newell. The broad interest of the MPAC lab is to investigate how we recognise the things that surround us in our world using our main sensory modalities. We take an experimental approach to our work, meaning that we set up experiments in the lab or online to measure behavioural performance (e.g. response times and accuracy) to tasks involving face or object recognition and categorisation.  Our experiments may involve visual images only, or both images and sounds.

The MPAC lab has a research dedicated laboratory equipped with state-of art facilities for behavioural testing, including eye tracking.  It is housed in Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience (TCIN) in the main campus of College.  TCIN also houses a research-dedicated MRI scanner, accessible to the MPAC lab.

The Research Assistant will join a research team of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers and will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues within TCIN, the School of Psychology and international collaborators. The candidate will participate in regular lab meetings, learn about diverse methodologies in perceptual science, and make an important contribution to the running of our research programme.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for recruiting and conducting experiments with children. Having connections with primary schools would be a benefit.

Successful candidates are expected to take up the position immediately, but ideally no later than June 2024.

Please note that Garda vetting will be sought in respect of individuals who come under consideration for a post.
