Job Overview:
The Pharmaceutical and Molecular Biotechnology Research Centre (PMBRC) was established in 2008, consolidating existing research in WIT in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and biomedical sciences into one research centre. The PMBRC is one of 17 centres of excellence funded by the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway programme. The PMBRC has established strong links with the national pharmaceutical and healthcare sector and has secured funding of over €4m for industrial projects since 2008. In addition, the centre is involved in a number of national and international initiatives with academic partners. The PMBRC has won multiple awards for Research and Development Achievement over the years at the Pharma Industry Awards. See the PMBRC website at http://pmbrc.org/
The PMBRC offers a range of contract analytical and contract research services to Irish industry. The volume of work now requires additional resources to conduct and manage this important aspect of the PMBRC’s function. Reporting to the PMBRC Manager, the recruited researcher will be responsible for carrying out contract analysis and contract research projects for industry clients, particularly projects involving the physico-chemical characterisation of materials.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties:
- To analyse industry samples submitted for contract analysis.
- To perform or assist in the completion of collaborative research projects.
- To summarise data in technical reports and presentations.
- To assist in the administration of the contract analysis projects including preparing quotations, requesting invoices and uploading project information to databases as required.
- To assist in academic and commercial research projects as required.
- To assist in the upkeep and maintenance of equipment as required.
- Such other duties, temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required commensurate with the position.
Salary:
The Gross Salary applicable to this post is:€42,782-49,177.

| Hands-on experience in the use of many or all of the following techniques is essential: XRD, DSC, AFM, laser diffraction particle sizing, SEM, powder and liquid rheometry, DVS. Theoretical knowledge of materials characterisation and analytical techniques to enable the interpretation of laboratory results. | Experience in the use of the following techniques is desirable: HPLC and LC/MS, GC and GC/MS, NMR, drug product formulation.

I.T. Skills
| Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to use equipment control software.
| Experience in the use of advanced data analysis software packages such as DoE, multivariate analysis, molecular modelling or crystallographic software is desirable. |

| Good communication, presentation and report writing skills are essential. The successful candidate will be comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary research team and be able to work under pressure to meet project deadlines. Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a wider team. Ability to manage their own time and manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously.
