Post Doctoral Researcher

Updated: 3 days ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 28 Apr 2024

The Role

Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued.

In order to automate and improve data sharing across an Enterprise we can use Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and Process Mining techniques. Related advancements will lead to an environment where data governance can be dynamically applied at the actual stage of data usage.

However, a general challenge is to ensure compliance with a number of complex controls regarding the appropriate use and sharing of data. As a result, data governance challenges of data hygiene and ethical use of data have surfaced as critical areas of focus. This creates opportunities for experimentation into more effective ways to ensure risks and controls are precisely accounted for and ultimately enforced. With this project we aim to address the following research question: “How data can be used to automate the understanding of data flows and data sharing and identify critical events that can be used for data sharing controls?”

The project is part of a Lero/SFI co-funded collaborative project with a leading industry partner with the EMPOWER programme for Data Governance. Hosted at the Innovation Value Institute at Maynooth University, the Postdoctoral researcher will report to Prof. Markus Helfert (Project PI) and will be part of an exciting team researching Data Governance approaches in a range of enterprise contexts. The project is affiliated with the SFI programme for Data Governance – Empower. The project includes architecture, data analysis, process mining techniques for process discovery and visualization and prototypical software implementation.
