CEPHR (formerly the HIV Molecular Research Group, HMRG) is Ireland's leading research group in HIV and one of the few academic research centres in Europe that integrates host and pathogen research comprising clinical, translational, statistical and biomedical researchers. CEPHR is internationally recognized for its translational research being involved in both investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies, including into COVID-19 and Monkeypox studies, in collaboration with the Infectious Diseases service at St Vincent's University Hospital and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin) and a number of EU-funded projects, including roles as national lead for the EU COVID19 Vaccine Trial Network.

CEPHR's most recently awarded projects include the Establishment of a National Biobank, a National Clinical Trials Network in Ireland (HRB funded), and the role as national lead for the EU funded Network VACCELERATE (The European platform for accelerating clinical vaccine development in Phase II/III funded by the EC H2020 programme).

CEPHR is currently seeking a Post-doctoral Researcher biostatistician to join our group. This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work and grow in an interdisciplinary team, gaining skills and experience in the conduct of clinical studies/trials as well as in the development and employment of novel analytics methods for use in such studies.

This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching. In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:

  • Prepare statistical analysis plans for both observational cohort studies and clinical trials
  • Collaborated closely with investigators and other trial leadership to ensure that trial/project results are presented accurately and without bias
  • Draft statistical sections for study synopses and protocols
  • Generate project randomization sequences and random study drug kit numbers
  • Provide input regarding data collection tools and data correction criteria and procedures
  • Participate in the development and improvement of study database systems, including specifications for the database design to assure the availability and quality of the clinical study data
  • Conduct computational and statistical analysis to understand infectious disease's host-pathogen interactions
  • Serve as a liaison for numerous aspects of observational studies and clinical trial (s) including administrative and quality issues
  • Supervise and mentor students and research assistants working on statistical projects within the CEPHR

Fixed Salary: 41,209per annum

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
