Lecturer in English (Creative Writing) 0.5 FTE, Contract Type A, (x2 posts)

Updated: 2 months ago
Location: NUIG, CONNAUGHT
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 21 Mar 2024

Applications are invited for two appointments as a permanent Lecturer (0.5 FTE, Contract Type A) in English (Creative Writing) at the University of Galway. For one of these posts, a specialism in Nonfiction will be an advantage, but for both a capacity to teach across genres will be expected.

The School of English, Media and Creative Arts comprises the disciplines of English, Drama, Film & Digital Media, Music, and Journalism & Media. The Discipline of English itself teaches over 1,000 students, including 50 MA students and 25 PhD students. We teach a broad undergraduate curriculum and we run three undergraduate programmes: BA in English and Creative Writing, BA in English (joint honours), and BA Digital Arts and Technology. We run three taught MA programmes: MA in Writing, MA in English, and MA in Literature and Publishing, as well as contributing to other MA programmes in the School. We are currently ranked 91 internationally for English in the QS World University rankings.

For these posts we are seeking colleagues who will contribute to enhancing and developing our School’s vibrant profile in the area of Creative Writing. Applicants are invited to demonstrate how they would enhance teaching and mentorship on our existing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and how they would develop an innovative “creative practice-as-research” agenda through their own ongoing work.
