We are seeking an excellent academic to join our staff as a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science. The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. He/she will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the International Engineering College (IEC) in Fuzhou, China.  While the bulk of their teaching assignments will be based in the IEC, the successful candidate will also be expected to be present on the Maynooth Campus for approximately half the working year.  Teaching duties will cover undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as the supervision of master’s and PhD students.  

This position is open to applicants of all disciplines within the field of computer science, but we would welcome applicants with expertise in the areas of theoretical computer science, software verification, signal-processing, computer vision, and audio/speech processing.  The successful candidate will have a key role in the development, enhancement and delivery of a European pedagogical approach to the delivery of the academic curriculum in the IEC. 

The appointee will be expected to build a strong research profile, that supports the university’s research strategy including affiliating to Maynooth University’s research institutes, where appropriate and working with colleagues on national and international research. The candidate will be expected to facilitate, where feasible, links between research activities in Maynooth University and Fuzhou University.  The appointee will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance, and generate publications of an international standard.  

Salary

Lecturer (Post 1995*):                                         €55,591 – €88,601 per annum (7 points)
Assistant Lecturer (2022):                                   €35,598 – €62,211 per annum (14 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions
