Geoscience is key to achieving many of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and we encourage applications from those who can make a major contribution to this effort. We also highly value cross-disciplinary research and anticipate the successful candidate will develop new collaborations with other UCD groups, both within the College of Science and more widely (e.g., with Engineering, Social Sciences).
The UCD School of Earth Sciences (https://www.ucd.ie/earthsciences/ ) is the largest geoscience school in Ireland and one of 7 schools in the UCD College of Science. Our research covers both pure and applied topics and addresses current societal challenges including the energy transition, environmental change, geohazards and access to raw materials. We continue to value field-based science alongside both computational and laboratory-based research. For further details of our research themes and recent output, see https://www.ucd.ie/earthsciences/research/ourresearchthemes/ .
