Exciting new Job Opportunity in the new €41.3 million research centre which will be the home of research, innovation, and policy development across the interlinked challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and water degradation on the islands of Ireland and Britain.
The new Co-Centre for Climate+ Biodiversity + Water hosted by the School of Natural Sciences, Trinity College Dublin is an international collaborative Co-Centre working across 14 academic partner institutions in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
The Co-Centre for Climate+ Biodiversity + Water, hosted by the School of Natural Sciences, is seeking to appoint a Manager for Education and Public Engagement (EPE). The EPE Manager will develop and implement the Co-Centre’s ambitious Education and Public Engagement strategy across Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain. The Co-Centre’s Education and Public Engagement (EPE) strategy will position Co-Centre as the authoritative voice informing society, enabling effective decision-making, advising on restoration actions and promoting changes in behaviour to address the climate, biodiversity and water quality crises and live sustainably in harmony with nature.
The EPE manager will facilitate the achievement of key objectives including (i)Developing and leading implementation of the Co-Centre’s Education and Public Engagement strategy and operational plan, to inform effective policy making, industry resilience, restoration actions and education (formal and informal) in matters relating to climate/biodiversity/water. (ii)Working with researchers to actively support the conversion of scientific knowledge for informed decision making, deep public engagement and engaged research for societal impact. (iii) Proactively engaging in key education (formal, non-formal and informal) initiatives providing curriculum content and facilitating the production of resources for educators and employees. (iii)Facilitating public awareness of climate/biodiversity/water issues and engagement to empower citizens to effect change in behaviour and improved decision making.
The successful applicant will be expected to take up the post as soon as possible. Please note that police vetting will be sought in respect of individuals who come under consideration for a post.
Post status: Specific Purpose
Hours of Post: 35 hours per week
Salary: This appointment will be made on the Administrative Officer 1 (1-3) Salary Scale (€65,367 -€84,560 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales. (tcd.ie)
