Description of Post

The Assistant Lecturer will play an active role in the academic direction of courses including teaching, research, academic assessment and academic administration.

Appointment(s) may be on a permanent/fixed term/pro-rata/part-time basis as required at Assistant Lecturer level. A panel will be created for any vacancies that may arise in the future.

Please note: The postholder will be based at the ATU Donegal, Letterkenny Campus.

Essential Qualifications

Minimum

  • An Honours (2.2 or higher) Level 8 degree as specified in the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)] or equivalent majoring in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Three years relevant post graduate experience, i.e. 3 years relevant experience having gained the qualifications above.

Desirable

  • Successful candidates will have extensive knowledge and practical experience in Engineering Management (Process Analysis and Improvement, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics and Visualisation, Strategic Leadership, Project Management and Research Practice etc.).
  • A postgraduate qualification preferably at PhD level
  • A Master's Degree in a relevant Level 9 Programme [as specified in the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)] or equivalent.
  • Significant industry and research experience in the area of engineering management
  • Third level teaching experience (online and face to face)
  • Research experience
  • Experience in programme development and implementation
  • Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to teach effectively
  • Good communication skills, organisational skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
