Eva Wittenberg’s Language Comprehension Lab (lcl.ceu.edu) in the Department of Cognitive Science at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a three-year postdoc position funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) on project P-37231-G – “LISA: Linguistic Impact on Social Action Comprehension”. The initial contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal.

 

As a postdoc employed in project LISA, you will develop and implement studies using linguistic priming in combination with EEG and behavioral methods. LISA is a collaboration between CEU’s Language Comprehension Lab and the Babelfisch Lab at Uni Wien, where EEG experiments will be performed. You will therefore be able to enjoy an exceptionally dynamic, collaborative, and international academic environment in both institutions. Your duties and responsibilities:

The position will allow the postdoc to focus on research, without teaching obligations. Duties include:

  • Conceptual and technical development, data acquisition, and analysis of experimental research
  • Presentation at international conferences and through publications
  • Training and co-supervision of doctoral students and student assistants
  • Assistance in daily lab organization

 

Your qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a related field (obtained by starting date, no later than within the last five years)
  • Demonstrated research experience in EEG methodology, with experience in oscillatory measures strongly desirable
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge in German and/or Hungarian desirable
  • Solid data processing and analysis skills (using R or Python)

 

Compensation:

Salary according to FWF salary bands . Your appointment will be at Central European University Vienna.
