Offer Description
The Department of Integrative Biology and Biodiversity Research, Institute of Wildlife Biology and Game Management is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of August 2024, limited to 31st of July 2030
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1, € 4.752,30
Responsibilities:
- Scientifc work on the topic of sustainable hunting and hunting management
- Independent management of wildlife ecology and hunting projects (from application to implementation), with a focus on Austria and Central Europe
- Publication activities in scientific journals and popular hunting journals
- Public relations work (third mission) on hunting-related topics
- Teaching in the field of wildlife ecology, wildlife management and especially hunting management for bachelor and master curricula at BOKU
- Teaching in the field of further education in the hunting context, in particular in the university further education course in hunting management
- Participation in university self-administration at the institute and in the department
Required skills and qualifications:
- Doctorate degree/PhD in wildlife ecology or hunting
- Language skills: German and English
- Possession of a valid Austrian hunting license or equivalent qualification and active hunting practice
- Sound experience in research and teaching on wildlife ecology and hunting topics
- Proven track record in acquiring third-party funding and publishing in scientific journals and popular science magazines
- Strong communication skills and willingness to cooperate with different interest groups and land users
- Class B driver's license
- Experience in the management of research groups
