Eva Wittenberg’s Language Comprehension Lab (lcl.ceu.edu) in the Department of Cognitive Science at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a graduate student position funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) on project P-37231-G – “LISA: Linguistic Impact on Social Action Comprehension”. The initial contract is for six months with the possibility of renewal. This is a part-time position of 10-20 hours depending on availability.

 

As a graduate student employed on project LISA, you will be trained by the project team in developing and implementing studies using linguistic priming in combination with EEG and behavioral methods. LISA is a collaboration between CEU’s Language Comprehension Lab and the Babelfisch Lab at Uni Wien, where EEG experiments will be performed. You will therefore be able to enjoy an exceptionally dynamic, collaborative, and international academic environment in both institutions. Duties and responsibilities:

  • Conceptual and technical development, data acquisition, and analysis of experimental research
  • Presentation at international conferences and through publications
  • Assistance in daily lab organization

 

Qualifications:

  • completed Master’s degree in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Psychology or related field
  • demonstrated research experience in experimental sciences
  • background knowledge in linguistics
  • fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge in German and/or Hungarian desirable
  • solid data processing and analysis skills (using R or Python)

 

Compensation

Salary according to FWF salary bands . Your appointment will be at Central European University Vienna.
