DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED BIOLOGY AND CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology is a multi-disciplinary department in PolyU with diversified specialties in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition and food science. The Department’s research focus is in the interdisciplinary areas of chemistry, biology, nutrition and food science. There are about 56 faculty members in the Department. With Food Science and Human Health being one of its top research foci, PolyU has recently established a brand new “Research Institute for Future Food” (RiFood) in order to facilitate impactful interdisciplinary research for the benefit of mankind. RiFood has three main research directions, namely (i) Food Sustainability; (ii) Smart Technology and Functional Food Development; and (iii) Nutrition and Human Health. At present, our interdisciplinary Research Team comprises more than 45 faculty members originated from 13 Departments in 6 Faculties/Schools of PolyU with a wide spectrum of expertise. Research Assistant Professor in Nutrition and Human Health (Ref. 22011827)
The appointee will be required to (a) conduct interdisciplinary research in Nutrition and Human Health under RiFood as the main duty, and actively pursue external research grants as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator; (b) provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level; (c) engage in publicity activities that increase visibility of RiFood and PolyU; and (d) provide expert advice and service to the local and international communities on food-related issues.
Applicants should (a) have a doctoral degree in Food Science, Nutrition or related disciplines; (b) have demonstrated promise of a high level of creative ability in research and teaching; (c) be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills; and (d) be highly proficient in written and spoken English.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive package including a medical benefits plan and a gratuity payable upon completion of the term which is normally for three years initially, with possibility of extension for another three years. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
