Master Thesis - Hydrogen applications for a sustainable agriculture

Updated: 21 days ago

Your Job:

In the farming sector, electricity is already being generated on a large scale through photovoltaic, biogas, or wind power systems. However, the energy obtained in this way cannot fully meet the specific energy demands, particularly those of agricultural machinery. To successfully achieve the energy transition, it is crucial to reduce the use of fossil fuels. There are numerous options available to meet the energy requirements, including battery electric drives, fuel cells, biogas, or various synthetic fuels. The unique boundary conditions require tailor-made solutions. Thus, the objective of this work is to identify and compare the most promising options for energy supply to agricultural machinery, along with the corresponding generation and transportation pathways. The comparison will be conducted not only from a technological standpoint bus, notably, through a life cycle analysis (LCA).

Your tasks will include:

  • Detailed literature review
  • Creating and comparing process routes for energy supply on agricultural machinery
  • Techno-economics evaluation of various processes
  • Life cycle analysis of different processes
  • Close collaboration with internal and external partners
  • Detailed evaluation and presentation of simulation results

Your Profile:

  • Currently enrolled in a master`s program in process engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge in hydrogen and energy research is advantageous
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills, along with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Proficent in both written and spoken English
